In an interview w/Inside Tennis, Becker stated that his Czech-born mother has a "Jewish background" and "fled the Russians" and lived in a displaced persons camp after the War. His father is Catholic. What Jewish "background" means is still unclear. Becker related these facts to explain his admirable opposition to racism.
