German Olympic medalist, cousin of Alfred Flatow. 1896: Two gold medals, gymnastics, team parallel bars and team horizontal bar. He fled to Netherlands from Germany during the Nazi regime. He was deported to a concentration camp (after the Germans occupied the country) and died of starvation at the age of 74.

In the 1952 Olympics she won the gold in the Individual and Team All-Around events, and silver medals in each of the five other gymnastic events: Vault, Parallel Bars, Balance Beam, Floor Exercise, and Team Hand Apparatus. It was not known she was Jewish until she immigrated to Israel in 1990.
