Victor Zilberman

Victor Zilberman (born September 20, 1947 in Bucharest) is a retired boxer from Romania.

He represented his native country at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Canada. There he won the bronze medal in the welterweight division (– 67 kg) after being defeated in the semifinals by eventual winner Jochen Bachfeld of East Germany.

He competed in three consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1968 (Mexico City).

1968 (as a welterweight):

  • Lost to Joseph Bessala (Cameroon) TKO 3 (quarterfinal match)

1972 (as a welterweight):

  • Lost to David Jackson (Uganda) 2-3

1976 (as a welterweight):

  • 1st round bye
  • Defeated Amon Kotey (Ghana) walk-over, country boycotted
  • Defeated Colin Jones (Great Britain) 5-0
  • Defeated Carlos Santos (Puerto Rico) 3-2
  • Lost to Jochen Bachfeld (East Germany) 2-3
