Boris Thomashefsky

Boris Thomashefsky (18681–1939, sometimes written Thomashevsky, Thomaschevsky, etc.) was a Ukrainian-born (later American) Jewish singer and actor who became one of the biggest stars in Yiddish theatre; born in Tarashcha (Yiddish:Tarasche), a shtetl near Kiev, Ukraine, he emigrated to the U.S. at the age of 12 in 1881. A year later, barely a teenager, he was largely responsible for the first performance of Yiddish theatre in New York City and has been credited as the pioneer of Borscht Belt entertainment.

Brad Garrett (born April 14, 1960) is a three-time Emmy Award-winning American actor and comedian known for his roles on the television sitcoms Everybody Loves Raymond as Robert Barone and 'Til Death as Eddie Stark.

Garrett is Jewish. In 1998, he proposed to his then girlfriend Jill Diven on the set of Everybody Loves Raymond, and they were married on May 18, 1999.

Bruce Gordon

Bruce Gordon (born February 1, 1916) is an American actor best known for playing Frank Nitti in the TV series The Untouchables.

Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Gordon had an "Introducing" credit in the 1949 Marx Brothers film Love Happy. His role in The Untouchables led to his being typecast as a heavy the rest of his career.

Broncho Billy Anderson

Gilbert M. 'Broncho Billy' Anderson (March 21, 1880 – January 20, 1971) was an American actor, writer, director, and producer, who is best known as the first star of the Western film genre.

He was born Max Aronson in Little Rock, Arkansas, the sixth child of Henry and Esther Aronson, natives of New York. His younger sister Leona Anderson would achieve a degree of success in the 1950s as a novelty singer who specialized in singing off-key songs for comedic value.

Anderson, who was Jewish, is also claimed by Pine Bluff, where he was raised until age eight.

He then lived in St. Louis until he was 18, when he moved to New York City. He was a photographer's model and newspaper vendor before appearing on the stage. He performed in vaudeville, later working with Edwin S. Porter as an actor and occasional script collaborator.

Camryn Manheim (born March 8, 1961) is an American actress known primarily for her roles as attorney Ellenor Frutt on the ABC legal drama The Practice and as Delia Banks on Ghost Whisperer.

Manheim was born Debra Frances Manheim in Caldwell, New Jersey, the daughter of Sylvia, a teacher, and Jerome Manheim, a mathematics professor. Her family is Jewish. Manheim became interested in acting after working at a Renaissance Faire in high school. Manheim graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz in with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts of degree in 1984 and New York University with a Master's degree in Fine Arts in 1987.

Carmel Myers (April 4, 1899 - November 9, 1980) was an American actress who worked chiefly in silent movies.

Myers was born in San Francisco, the daughter of an Australian rabbi and Austrian Jewish mother. Her father became well-connected with California's emerging film industry, and introduced her to film pioneer D. W. Griffith, who gave Carmel a small part in Intolerance (1916). Myers would also get her brother Zion Myers into Hollywood as a writer/director.

Carol Bruce (November 15, 1919 – October 9, 2007) was an American band singer, Broadway star, and film and television actress.

Bruce was born Shirley Levy in Great Neck, New York, the daughter of Beatrice and Harry Levy. She began her career as a singer in the late 1930s with Larry Clinton and his band. A graduate of Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, New York, she made her Broadway debut in Louisiana Purchase, which was reportedly especially written for her[citation needed] by Irving Berlin. She was the first actress to play (and sing) the role of Julie in a Broadway production of Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II's Show Boat since the original production in the late 1920s. Bruce played the role onstage in 1946 and garnered favorable comparisons to Helen Morgan, who had originated the role on stage and on film.

Carole Shelley (born August 16, 1939) is a Tony Award-winning actress from London, England.

On the stage, Ms. Shelley made her Broadway debut in the original 1965 production of The Odd Couple, playing Gwendolyn Pigeon (she would reprise the role for the film version and for the first season of the subsequent television series). She appeared in several plays throughout the 1970s and 1980s, earning her first Tony Award nomination in 1975 for her performance as "Jane" in Absurd Person Singular. Ms. Shelley won the 1979 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for her role as "Mrs. Kendal" in The Elephant Man, and was nominated again in 1987 for her performance in Stepping Out as "Maxine." Ms. Shelley also began appearing in musicals in the late 1990s, with the revivals of Show Boat and Cabaret. In 2003, Ms. Shelley created the role of "Madame Morrible" in the original Broadway cast of the hit Broadway musical Wicked. She reprised this role in the national tour and the Chicago productions of Wicked in 2006. She is often mistaken for Carol Kane, who originated the role of Madame Morrible in the National Tour and in Southern California.

Carolyn Sue Jones was born in Amarillo, Texas. She was named after actress Carole Lombard, and after moving to California, joined the Pasadena Playhouse in 1947. It was said that Carolyn also had some Comanche ancestry.

She secured a contract with Paramount Studios and made her first film in 1952. In 1953, she married aspiring film-maker Aaron Spelling (and converted to Judaism upon marriage), and her film career began to gain momentum.

She received a Best Actress Emmy Nomination in a comedy in 1982. She also appeared in two Facts of Life television movies, one in 1982, and the second one, a reunion film, in 2001.

Rae was born Charlotte Rae Lubotsky in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Russian Jewish immigrants Esther (née Ottenstein), who was a childhood friend of Golda Meir, and Meyer Lubotsky, a retail tire business owner. She had two sisters (one older and one younger), and graduated from Shorewood High School there. Rae attended but did not complete her studies at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois
